SxS Data Card Procedures

EX1 & EX3

(Note: this list is a work In progress, there could be errors and omissions)


Before The Recording:

- All cards should be numbered. (more info coming soon)

  1. -Confirm that data on the cards maybe erases. (more info coming soon)

  2. -Deleting clips...  (more info coming soon)

- Formating...  (more info coming soon)



- Head slate each card:

Production Number

Production Title

Scene

Date

Place

Camera Id

Camera Operator

Recording format

- Using the camera menu, information can be written to the card.

(Info may be added to clips after the recording with a computer using Clip Browser or ShotPut Pro software)



During The Recording:

- Never remove a SxS memory card while the camera is recording. (Red light above SxS media slot). Stored data on the memory card could potentially be destroyed.


- If you wish to 'hot swap' a card, press the Slot Select button to record on the other card.


After The Recording:

- Push the write protect switch on, AFTER removing the SxS card from the camera.

(not when the card is in the camera or the computer)


Always download using either the Clip Browser (with CRC checking ON) or ShotPut Pro.



- Create a folder with the date and name of the project.



- Always use the same folder naming system.


- Make 2 copies of the data on two different hard drives.


- Verify the integrity of the data before erasing the card using EX1 Clip browser scan through a clip from each card for image and sound.


- Compare the file size with the original file.


  1. -Keep each hard drive in a different place.

  2. -

- If traveling, ship a 3rd hard drive home.

When traveling... I've been backing up on 3 small portable hard drives.

($70 US each)


I carry one drive... the second is carried by another crew member and the third drive is couriered home.
